Cavity wall being cleared of failed insulation
Cavity wall extraction

Cavity Wall Insulation Extraction

When cavity fill fails, slumps or gets wet, it bridges moisture straight into your home. We fully extract old beads, urea-formaldehyde foam and mineral fibre - then make good the brickwork.

Overview

When cavity insulation fails, damp follows

Cavity wall insulation was installed in millions of UK homes as an energy upgrade. When it works, it's excellent. When it fails - through slumping, saturation or poor original install - the same material that should keep you warm becomes a wick, pulling rain from the outer leaf to your internal walls.

Our extraction process uses a controlled drilling pattern, high-airflow vacuum extraction and full internal inspection with a borescope. We work systematically across the elevation so nothing is left behind in awkward corners or below window openings.

Once the cavity is fully cleared, we repoint the drilled holes with a matched mortar so the exterior looks untouched. The wall can then dry out naturally, and any re-insulation can be considered separately, on your terms.

What a full extraction gives you

  • Clears failed EPS beads, mineral fibre and urea foam
  • Stops moisture bridging and cold-spot damp
  • Full borescope survey before and after
  • Neat drilled pattern, colour-matched pointing
  • Waste bagged, weighed and removed
  • Optional re-insulation advice, no pressure

Our process

How we clear a cavity, elevation by elevation

01

Diagnostic survey

Borescope inspection and thermal imaging to confirm fill type, condition and moisture readings.

02

Targeted drilling

A controlled drill pattern gives full access to the cavity across every elevation and floor level.

03

Vacuum extraction

High-airflow extraction pulls out beads, fibre or degraded foam, with follow-up sweeps under openings.

04

Repoint & report

Holes are repointed with matched mortar and a full photo and weight report is issued on completion.
